Gold on Moon.com: the bet in one paragraph
A gold bet on Moon is a call on direction, not a purchase of metal. You open the XAU/USD market, pick Up or Down, set a stake and a leverage multiplier anywhere from 1x to 1000x, and your profit or loss is the percentage move in gold’s price against the US dollar, multiplied by your leverage, applied to your stake. There is no bar to store and nothing to deliver at the end; the bet settles in your Moon balance. Gold is not a 24/7 market the way crypto is, since it trades through exchanges and dealers around the world with their own opening hours; Moon advertises real-money betting 24/7, and the markets screen in the app is where to see whether XAU/USD is open at a given hour.
Sign up through our referral link, flip the account into play money, and open XAU/USD. Five minutes watching the price tick against a 100x position teaches more than any table below.

What a gold move pays at each leverage tier
The arithmetic is the same on every Moon market, so the only variable that is gold-specific is how far XAU/USD actually moves. Take a $100 stake and a 1% move in gold’s price. Figures are gross, before the fees covered further down.
| Leverage | Exposure | 1% move in your favour | 1% move against you | Liquidation distance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1x | $100 | +$1 | -$1 | 100% |
| 10x | $1,000 | +$10 | -$10 | 10% |
| 50x | $5,000 | +$50 | -$50 | 2% |
| 100x | $10,000 | +$100 | liquidated, -$100 | 1% |
| 500x | $50,000 | +$500 | liquidated, -$100 | 0.2% |
| 1000x | $100,000 | +$1,000 | liquidated, -$100 | 0.1% |
Read the last column first. At 1000x a gold move of 0.1% against your entry ends the bet. At a gold price of around $4,350 that is about a $4.35 move, small change on a metal that can swing that far inside a minute during a busy session. At 100x the line is 1%, or around $43.50. At 10x it is 10%, or around $435, a move that on gold usually takes days rather than minutes. The leverage guide has the full tier table and an interactive calculator; the liquidation guide explains how Moon closes the position when the line is hit.
The biggest gold bet we have seen
Our live pages record every large win and liquidation on Moon’s public feed. The largest gold win we can find is a long at 100x: a $198,000 stake, a 0.58% move in gold’s price, and a return of $88,469, a 1.44x multiple on the stake. It is on the biggest wins board with the trader and the date. The same trader shows up several more times in the record with smaller versions of the same bet, all long, all at 50x to 100x.
We have not recorded a gold liquidation in the same sources, so we are not going to describe one that did not happen. What we can show is the arithmetic: at 500x the liquidation line on gold sits 0.2% from entry, about $8.70 at a $4,350 price, and at 1000x it is half that again. The liquidations page lists the positions across every market where a move that size wiped the stake.
Fees on a gold bet
Moon charges the same four things on gold as on every market. From its help centre and terms:
- Opening fee: 1% of the stake. $1.00 on a $100 bet, at any leverage. Leverage changes your exposure, not this fee.
- Holding fee: every 8 hours the bet stays open, at a dynamic rate Moon does not publish as a number. Gold trades through exchanges with their own hours rather than crypto’s round-the-clock market, but Moon’s holding fee runs on the clock, not the exchange calendar, so a gold bet held over a stretch when the underlying market is shut still accrues it.
- Performance fee: at least 10% of realized profit. Charged on winners only. On a $100 gross win it is $10.
- Spread: Moon’s terms reserve a pricing edge in its favour. It is inside the price you bet at rather than a separate line, so the liquidation distances in the table above are the before-spread figures.
So the 100x row above, a $100 win on a 1% move, is about $89 in hand: $100 gross, less the $1 opening fee, less a $10 performance fee, with holding fees on top if the bet ran past eight hours. The fees guide works three full examples, and if you registered with our code, 3.5% of every one of those fees comes back as rakeback.
Sizing a gold bet on Moon
Three rules that follow from the table rather than from opinion.
Choose leverage from the move you expect, not from the payout. If you think gold will move 2% today, 50x puts the liquidation line at 2% and 100x puts it at 1%, which is inside the normal noise of a busy session. Lower leverage survives the noise.
Treat 500x and 1000x as minute-scale bets. At those tiers the liquidation line is 0.1% to 0.2% away, so the position either resolves fast or is closed by Moon fast. They are not positions to hold across a market close, and the holding fee agrees.
Practise on play money first. Moon’s simulated balance refills to $100,000 without limit and uses the same XAU/USD market and leverage ladder. Run twenty 100x bets there and count how many hit the line before they hit the target; the play money guide has a practice plan.
1000x on gold is a 0.1% bet
At 1000x, gold moving 0.1% against you ends the bet and the stake is gone, before spread and fees. Most trades at that tier on Moon lose. Only stake what you can afford to lose, and use play money until the speed of it is familiar.
Other Moon markets
Bitcoin, EUR/USD and Tesla take the same bet with the same fee stack; the Bitcoin page, EUR/USD page and Tesla page cover them, and the markets guide lists everything we have seen bets on, more than 30 markets across crypto, gold and silver, forex, stocks and indices. Availability depends on where you are; the FAQ has the current list.
Frequently asked
Can you bet on gold on Moon.com?
Yes. Gold, listed as XAU/USD, is one of more than 30 markets we have seen bets on in Moon's public feed; see /markets/ for the full list. You pick Up or Down, a stake and a leverage from 1x to 1000x.
What does a 1% gold move pay at 100x on Moon?
On a $100 stake at 100x, exposure is $10,000, so a 1% move in your direction is a $100 gross win, about $89 after the 1% opening fee and a 10% performance fee. A 1% move the other way liquidates the bet and the $100 stake is gone.
Is gold open 24/7 on Moon.com?
Not in the way crypto is. Gold trades through global exchanges and dealers with their own hours, unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, which never close. Moon advertises real-money betting 24/7, but it has not published whether gold can be opened outside the underlying market's hours, so check the markets screen in the app; holding fees keep accruing every 8 hours regardless of whether the underlying market is open.
Where is the liquidation price on a gold bet at 1000x?
0.1% from your entry, before spread and fees. At a gold price of around $4,350 that is about $4.35. At 100x it is 1% (about $43.50), at 10x it is 10% (about $435). The distance is 100 divided by the leverage, as a percentage of the entry price.
What is the biggest gold win recorded on Moon.com?
The largest we can see in our sources is a long at 100x: a $198,000 stake returned $88,469 on a 0.58% move in gold's price, a 1.44x multiple on the stake. We have no recorded liquidation on gold in the same data, so we cannot show one; the leverage arithmetic above shows how fast that changes at 500x and 1000x.
Can I practise gold bets on Moon for free?
Yes. Moon's play-money mode gives a simulated $100,000 balance that refills without limit, with the same Up/Down bets and leverage as real money. It is the sensible way to see how gold moves at 100x before staking anything.
