Moon.com play money: $100,000 to practice with, no deposit

Moon gives every account a $100,000 play-money balance. It runs on the same markets and the same 1x to 1000x leverage as real bets, it is not real money, and if you lose it you refill it, as many times as you like. Switch it on from the main menu, then use the five-step plan below to see what 1000x does before you ever send crypto.

  • $100,000 Play-money balance
  • Unlimited Refills
  • 1000x Max leverage
  • 0.1% Liquidation at 1000x

Moon.com play money gives you the whole product for free: the same Up/Down bets, the same 1x to 1000x leverage, the same 24/7 markets, with a $100,000 demo balance instead of your own crypto. Three steps:

  1. Sign up through the button below. It is a normal Moon account; play money and real money live on the same login, and our link fills promo code moonlev into the form, which gives you 3.5% rakeback on fees if you ever do trade for real.
  2. Switch on play money. Open the main menu dropdown and use the Play Money toggle. The balance shows $100,000.
  3. Bet. Pick an asset, Up or Down, a stake and a leverage from 1x to 1000x. If you lose the lot, top it back up to $100,000. Moon puts no limit on refills.

It is the right first step because the one thing that surprises new players, how fast a high-leverage bet ends, costs nothing to learn in demo mode. The plan below takes about an hour and walks through every leverage tier once.

What is Moon.com play money mode?

Play money is a demo balance you bet with instead of real funds. You pick an asset, choose Up or Down, set a stake and a leverage multiplier, and the bet runs against the live price. Wins and losses land in the demo balance, which cannot be withdrawn. Moon’s help centre is plain about it: play-money bets do not use real funds, profits and losses are simulated only, and the mode is designed for educational and practice purposes. Moon also notes that market conditions in play money may differ from the live environment.

There is no native app: Moon runs in the browser, and on a phone you can add it to your home screen.

The value is not the balance, it is the feedback. Reading that 1000x means a 0.1% move against you ends the bet is one thing. Watching a play-money bet close in the time it takes to reach for your coffee is another, and it changes how you size real bets. If the mechanic is new to you, read how Moon works first, then come back.

Why play money is the right first step

Three reasons, in order of how much money they save you.

You learn where liquidation lands. Every tier has a different distance to the exit, and the distance shrinks faster than most people expect. Demo mode lets you see all five in one sitting. Watch the live page for ten minutes with the play-money ticket open and you will see what 1000x does before you risk anything.

You learn the fee lines. Check whether the demo shows fees on a practice bet, and treat the numbers as the same ones you will pay for real: 1% of the stake to open, a holding fee every 8 hours at a rate Moon sets, and at least 10% of profit on a winner. The full stack is on the fees page.

You learn your own habits. Whether you close winners too early, let losers run, or keep nudging the leverage slider up shows within a dozen practice bets. It is cheaper to find out here.

The five-step practice plan

Use the same stake for every step so the only variable is leverage. The examples below use $100 of play money, so the whole plan costs $500 of your $100,000 balance. Exposure is stake × leverage, and the textbook liquidation distance is 100% ÷ leverage, before spread and fees.

StepLeverageExposure on $100Move that liquidatesWhat a 0.5% move against you costs
11x$100100%$0.50
210x$1,00010%$5.00
3100x$10,0001%$50.00
4500x$50,0000.2%Liquidated at 0.2%, $100 gone
51000x$100,0000.1%Liquidated at 0.1%, $100 gone

Step 1: one bet at 1x

Place $100 Up or Down on BTC at 1x. Nothing dramatic happens, and that is the point: a 0.5% move changes your balance by 50 cents. Note the opening fee line if the demo shows one, then close the bet and see what came back.

Step 2: one bet at 10x

Same asset, same stake, 10x. Your $100 now behaves like $1,000. A 1% move is $10, a 10% move against you is the whole stake. On Bitcoin that is usually a matter of hours or days, so this tier is where a bet can be left open long enough for the 8-hour holding fee to appear. Watch for it.

Step 3: one bet at 100x

At 100x a 1% move ends the bet. Tesla and Bitcoin both move 1% inside a normal hour, so keep the app open and watch the running profit and loss change with each tick. Close it yourself before it closes on you, and compare the closing figure with what the arithmetic says: exposure × move, minus fees.

Step 4: one bet at 500x

Now the exit is 0.2% away. On a $100 stake that is $50,000 of exposure, and a 0.1% wobble, the kind that happens between two page refreshes, is $50. Most 500x demo bets end within minutes. Time it.

Step 5: one bet at 1000x

The last step is the reason this page exists. Place $100 at 1000x and start a stopwatch. A 0.05% move in your favor is $50; the same move against you is $50; another 0.05% against you is liquidation. Spread applies to the price, so the real trigger arrives a fraction before 0.1%. The liquidation guide explains the distance per tier and the leverage guide has a calculator for your own stake sizes.

What the stopwatch tells you

At 1000x a 0.1% move against you ends the bet before spread and fees, and every asset on Moon moves 0.1% constantly in both directions, so a real 1000x stake should be money you have already decided to lose.

After the five bets, write down two numbers: the highest leverage at which you were comfortable, and the stake you would put on it for real. Those are your rules. The glossary covers any term on the bet slip that did not make sense along the way.

What play money cannot teach you

The feeling of real money. A demo loss is a number going down. A real loss is money you earned leaving your wallet, and most people bet differently once that is true: closing too early, chasing, or sizing up after a win. Play money cannot simulate that, so start small when you switch.

KYC. Practice bets need no verification, but real money does. Before your first deposit Moon asks for a government ID, front and back, plus proof of address, and asks again before withdrawal. Higher-risk accounts may face source-of-funds checks. The KYC guide has the details.

Deposits and withdrawals. Moon is crypto-only. Play money skips the wallet, the network confirmation and the network fee on the way out, all of which apply to real funds.

Where the demo may differ. Moon says market conditions in play money may differ from the live environment, and we have not verified whether the demo applies the same spread and fees as a real bet. Treat any fee shown as real and assume the price you get on a real bet is no better than the demo’s.

Moving to real money

When the five steps are done and your two numbers are written down, the switch is short:

  1. Verify. Complete KYC through the verification process: ID plus proof of address. This comes before the deposit, not after.
  2. Deposit crypto. Send from a wallet you control; the balance is usable once the network confirms. The deposits and withdrawals page covers limits, AML checks and network fees.
  3. Start at the tier you wrote down, with the stake you wrote down. Not one notch higher because the demo went well.
  4. Check your rewards tab. Moon returns 3.5% of fees as rakeback, activated through approved affiliates and streamers or at Bronze VIP; if it is not showing after sign-up, ask support.

Availability depends on where you live; the FAQ has the current list. If you want a pause at any point, Moon’s terms include Take a Break, from 1 day to 3 months, and self-exclusion, covered on the responsible gambling page.
