Hey, welcome back to Moon Leverage. Episode 2, and this one is all about Moon.com rakeback. What it is, how it's worked out, what it's actually worth in dollars, and how you switch it on.
Quick recap for anyone new. Moon.com is the up or down betting site from the people behind Stake. Every bet carries fees, and rakeback is Moon giving a slice of those fees back to you. The published rate is 3.5%.
Which fees? Three. The opening fee, which is 1% of your stake, charged when the bet opens. The holding fee, which Moon charges every 8 hours the bet stays open, at a rate it changes and doesn't publish as a number. And the performance fee, which is at least 10% of your profit when a winning bet closes. Rakeback is 3.5% of all three, added together, and it comes back whether the bet won or lost.
Here's the arithmetic on one bet. You stake $100. The opening fee is $1, so rakeback on that is 3.5 cents. Say the bet closes with $50 of profit. The performance fee at the 10% minimum is $5, and 3.5% of that is 17.5 cents. $6 of fees, 21 cents back.
One thing people get wrong here. Leverage doesn't change it. The opening fee is 1% of your stake, not your exposure, so a $100 bet costs a dollar to open at 1x and a dollar to open at 1000x, and the rakeback is 3.5 cents either way.
Now a realistic month. Picture someone betting a few hundred dollars at a time. 100 bets at $100 each is $10,000 wagered, so $100 in opening fees. $800 of profit across the winners is $80 in performance fees. Add maybe $20 in holding fees for the bets held overnight, and that's $200 in fees for the month. Rakeback at 3.5% gives you $7 back. Do that for a year and it's $84.
I want to be honest about the size of that. $7 on $200 of fees is not going to turn a losing month into a winning one. What it does is trim the cost of playing by 3.5%, on every bet, for doing nothing. Think of it as a discount on the fee rates. Your 1% opening fee becomes 0.965%. Your 10% performance fee becomes 9.65%. Small, but it's the only lever on Moon's fees that's in your hands.
Two limits. On a losing bet there's no performance fee, so the only rakeback is on the opening fee and any holding fees. A $100 bet that gets liquidated inside 8 hours cost you $101 and gets 3.5 cents back. And rakeback can't touch the spread, because the spread is built into the price rather than charged as a fee.
Right, how do you switch it on. Moon's help center gives two routes. One, sign up through an approved affiliate or streamer. Two, reach Bronze VIP, which is the first VIP tier Moon names, though it hasn't published how much you need to wager to get there. The easy version of route one is the promo code moonlev. That's m-o-o-n-l-e-v, lowercase, one word. Type it into the code box when you register, or go to moonreferral.com and the button opens Moon with it already filled in. After you've verified your ID, open the rewards tab. If rakeback is listed, you're done. If it isn't, message support, mention the code, and ask them to switch it on.
Two quick clarifications, because the search results are a mess on this. If you see Moon.com cashback advertised somewhere, that's rakeback under a different name, the same 3.5% of fees. And if a site promises a big cashback percentage or a welcome bonus, read the fine print. There's no deposit match and no free bet on Moon right now. Where Moon does hand out bonus funds, its terms say they carry wagering requirements. Rakeback isn't bonus money. It's a rebate on fees you already paid, so there's nothing to play through.
Last thing, and I'll say it every episode. Rakeback gives you 3.5 cents on a dollar of fees. A 0.1% move against a 1000x bet takes the whole stake. So treat it as a small discount on the cost of playing, not a reason to bet more.
If you want to run your own numbers, moonrakeback.com has a calculator. Put in your stake, your profit, how long you hold, and it shows the fees and the rakeback live. moonleverage.com has the full fees guide, and the code, again, is moonlev.
